Candida albicans overgrowth- aka YEAST!
I finally got "The Yeast Connection and Women's Health" by William Crook, MD in the mail yesterday and haven't put it down....I am pretty convinced A LOT of women are suffering from some sort of yeast related problem and will never be properly diagnosed.
Yeast related problems in women have been connected to all sorts of things like weight gain, recurrent vaginal yeast infections, recurrent urinary tract infections, PMS, vulvodynia (burning vulva), sexual dysfunction (loss of interest in sex or loss of orgasm), dyspareunia (painful intercourse), infertility, endometriosis, interstitial cystitus.... just to name a few.
Other complaints and illnesses that may sometimes be related to Candida Albicans that affect men and children as well include:
numbness, tingling, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, eczema, acne, lupus, asthma, sinusitis, psoriasis, chronic hives...
Not saying that Candida Albicans is the cause of these problems but could very well be ONE of the many contributing causes.
There are different types of yeast, one being Candida Albicans, it normally lives on the warm, inner creases and crevices of the digestive tract, vagina and skin. Healthy women have a natural community of Candida Albicans that live in all three locations. When your immune system is healthy, friendly bacteria creates a symbiotic system with the yeast cells that keeps everything in balance. BUT when this system gets out of balance, Candida Albicans yeast cells rapidly overwhelm the friendly bacteria and can result in an overload with potentially serious effects.
Factors that predispose you to yeast infections (not just vaginal yeast infections):
Prescription medications - antibiotics and cortisone group drugs
Sugars and other simple carbohydrates
Birth control pill
Pregnancy
Steroids
Genital irritations and abrasions
Reinfection by your sexual partner
Diabetes
* Antibiotics DO NOT kill candida yeast! They wipe out friendly bacteria in your intestinal tract, vagina and respiratory membranes which in return the candida yeasts multiplies.
Candida overgrowth causes:
A weakened immune system
Disturbances of the membrane lining in your intestinal tract, creating what is called 'leaky gut'
Weakened immune system causes..........
Leaky gut causes............
Way too much for me to try and get into. Just wanted to try and give you a brief idea on what exactly Candida Albicans overgrowth is.
(FYI...all above was pretty much copied straight from the book "The Yeast Connection and Women's Health" by William Crook, MD)
Point of this post was for the test....take 5 minutes maybe even less and take the test, it might just make a world of difference in your health and over all well being. If you score higher than a 140 I would strongly recommend getting a copy of the book!
Candida TEST
Peace and Love,
Jamie xx
