Candida albicans overgrowth- aka YEAST!

I finally got "The Yeast Connection and Women's Health" by William Crook, MD in the mail yesterday and haven't put it down....I am pretty convinced A LOT of women are suffering from some sort of yeast related problem and will never be properly diagnosed.

Yeast related problems in women have been connected to all sorts of things like weight gain, recurrent vaginal yeast infections, recurrent urinary tract infections, PMS, vulvodynia (burning vulva), sexual dysfunction (loss of interest in sex or loss of orgasm), dyspareunia (painful intercourse), infertility, endometriosis, interstitial cystitus.... just to name a few.

Other complaints and illnesses that may sometimes be related to Candida Albicans that affect men and children as well include:
numbness, tingling, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, eczema, acne, lupus, asthma, sinusitis, psoriasis, chronic hives...

Not saying that Candida Albicans is the cause of these problems but could very well be ONE of the many contributing causes.

There are different types of yeast, one being Candida Albicans, it normally lives on the warm, inner creases and crevices of the digestive tract, vagina and skin. Healthy women have a natural community of Candida Albicans that live in all three locations. When your immune system is healthy, friendly bacteria creates a symbiotic system with the yeast cells that keeps everything in balance. BUT when this system gets out of balance, Candida Albicans yeast cells rapidly overwhelm the friendly bacteria and can result in an overload with potentially serious effects.

Factors that predispose you to yeast infections (not just vaginal yeast infections):
Prescription medications - antibiotics and cortisone group drugs
Sugars and other simple carbohydrates
Birth control pill
Pregnancy
Steroids
Genital irritations and abrasions
Reinfection by your sexual partner
Diabetes

* Antibiotics DO NOT kill candida yeast! They wipe out friendly bacteria in your intestinal tract, vagina and respiratory membranes which in return the candida yeasts multiplies.

Candida overgrowth causes:
A weakened immune system
Disturbances of the membrane lining in your intestinal tract, creating what is called 'leaky gut'

Weakened immune system causes..........
Leaky gut causes............

Way too much for me to try and get into. Just wanted to try and give you a brief idea on what exactly Candida Albicans overgrowth is.
(FYI...all above was pretty much copied straight from the book "The Yeast Connection and Women's Health" by William Crook, MD)

Point of this post was for the test....take 5 minutes maybe even less and take the test, it might just make a world of difference in your health and over all well being. If you score higher than a 140 I would strongly recommend getting a copy of the book!

Another tip - Cayenne Pepper!

Add 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in some water and drink 15-30 minutes before a meal. It is an awesome digestive aid. I even add a little squeeze of a lemon in it as well.
I would start out with an 1/8 of teaspoon till you get accustomed to the taste.
Also try adding some cayenne pepper to things like salsa, guacamole, hummus and whatever else you can think of...
Besides an awesome digestive aid, cayenne pepper is known to help boost metabolism and induce the body to burn off more fat!

Cayenne pepper also fights inflammation, prevents stomach ulcers, boosts immunity, offers pain relief, contains cardiovascular benefits and helps clear congestion.
It will spice up your food while improving your health. Plus it carries a healthy dose of vitamin A ; )

Diet tips...for those trying to lose some weight!

For those that a trying to lose a few pounds I thought I would share a few tips..

1. First thing in the morning drink a pint of water. Even better....drink a cup of warm water with a half of a lemon squeezed in it then drink the remaining amount of water!

2. Stop drinking empty calories!! Only drink water! I know water can be blah most of the time so when you need something else or craving a soda drink seltzer water, they have good natural flavored ones on the market too.

3. Limit eating out to once a week, twice a week tops! Atleast until you get to your goal weight. I swear this will make a huge difference. Plus you'll save some $$$

4. In return make sure your fridge is stocked with healthy choices. Lots of veggies!

5. Try to limit your sugar intake. Make the switch to stevia, it's the only natural no calorie sweetener! You can sweeten anything with it, comes in powder and liquid forms.

6. Try and eat my kale salad recipe atleast 2 nights a week for dinner. You can make the whole recipe just for yourself, it's alot and will be satisfying unlike most salads!

7. If your a pasta lover, switch to quinoa pasta. It's way better for you and has some protein in it!

8. If you love salty things, switch to Celtic sea salt or Himalayan pink sea salt. It's loaded with minerals unlike regular salt and is actual good for you. I've actual been making zucchini and squash chips with my dehydrator, sprinkled with a tad bit of olive oil and some Celtic sea salt and they are YUMMY, the closest thing to potato chips but without the guilt.

9. Curb sweet tooth cravings with apples especially love apple chips! It is actually not a good idea to have fruit after you've eaten a meal like as a dessert. Think about it, fruit is the quickest thing to digest, if you eat fruit after you've eaten a meal let's say chicken and veggies which takes a lot longer to digest, the fruit is gonna get stuck behind the chicken and veggies and end up basically rotting in your digestive system. LOL thats the short to the point explanation, point is you should always eat fruit on an empty stomach or before a meal never after!

10. I hate saying this one BUT chew gum! Helps a ton with cravings. Even after a meal when you then crave something sweet just grab a piece a gum instead of dessert ; ) OR even better go brush your teeth!!

11. Take a digestive enzyme and probiotics!! Magnesium before bed is also really good for digestion.

11. Get active! If anything.. WALK. Even better wake up earlier than you normally have to (hard I know, but it's all about will power) and go for a fast walk, before breakfast! Atleast 30-45 minutes. Stand nice and tall when you walk, hold belly in tight and swing those arms, it makes a huge difference!

12. Walk around naked!! In the privacy of your own home of course. If you have kids or something then a bikini or short short shorts and a small tank. It is the motivation you will need, trust me! LOL

13. Last but not least....Limit your alcohol consumption!

14. Thought of another.....Don't inhale your food...chew slowly! If you inhale your food your body hasn't even had a chance to fully process the fact that you just ate and has a harder time digesting everything properly in return you will be hungry again sooner too. Chill out and chew slow!

Those are just a few off the top of my head....

OPI nails

Painted my nails......OPI Heart Throb

Round 2!!

So today was round 2 of my colonics and OMG let me just tell you it was AWESOME!
I woke up feeling pretty negative about the whole thing, I felt like the same thing was going to happen like the first. I wanted to see old stale shit flowing thru the tube not just piss out of my ass for 5 minutes after the fact.
Well my negative thoughts and feelings had no impact on how today went.
YEEHAW!
Within about 10 minutes she said.."oh look, you see that? It's mucus" and sure enough as I watched the water flowing thru the tube I saw some mucus float thru....when I say the tube, this is the tube you watch all the gunk float thru...NOT the tube connected to my ass LOL ; )

Anyway so I was like...."mucus?!" She says mucus is what you want to see, not just poop, it's a good thing not bad! Mucus can stick to your colon walls and rot there for who knows how long, poop flows right past this nasty shit leaving it there to rot...UH GROSS!

As we chatted it up more and more mucus was coming out then next thing you know this shit was flowing, not just mucus but poop and lots of it! So much I started singing .... Let it flow let it flow let it flow!   (Flow instead of snow....the Christmas song)

Anyway it would come and go, at one point she says "oh see that, that's your liver dumping" uh ok...LOL it was bile, which again she says is a good thing.

We talked about a bunch of stuff and I realized this lady is super interesting and knows her stuff! I like her alot! We were connecting on a bunch of levels, those weird "it's meant to be...in the right place at the right time" spiritual kinda stuff.

We ended the session discussing my mom!! A very touchy subject for me as I have not talked to my mom in a long time and don't ever plan on talking to her ever again. I'll maybe get into that another time but it was really great to get this lady's thoughts on the situation and sure enough as I explained the situation with my mother to her I was releasing massive amounts more shit (when I thought I was done), it was kinda like instead of getting it off my chest I got it out of my stomach where I had been holding it in. Such a release in all the terms. Someone even knocked on the door to say hey your next appointment is here what the hell you doing in there...LOL we were in such deep conversations and I was just shitting away we lost track of time!!

I want to mention that to be truly healthy it's not just by eating healthy things and your diet, it's all aspects of your life that effect your life! Health is just a piece of it!

Anyway as I got dressed, oh yea I did still shiterdone in the bathroom too, I was feeling GREAT! I felt like I could have skipped home, felt at peace, hard to explain but it was such an experience.
As soon as I got in the car and reflected on all that had just happened I started to ball my eyes out, like literally crying so bad I couldn't barely drive. I called my dad to tell him all about it and of course couldn't even talk cause I was crying so bad, he hung up on me at one point cause he didn't know I was phone since I wasn't able to talk, barley breathe for that matter.
When he called back he finally got the hint that I was crying, I would do that cry but try to laugh thing cause in a way it was a good cry. I obviously needed to get it out and wow did I ever!
After hanging up with my dad I had a 30 minute drive ahead of me to get home and I cried the whole way home...listening (blasting) Bob Marley the whole way too, I haven't cried like that in a LONG time and it felt good! I feel lighter in every sense of the word!

Everything about my experience today was AWESOME.

Everything and I mean EVERYTHING in life happens for a reason and I see and believe it more and more everyday!

Peace and Love,

Jamie xx
